Saskatchewan's Greatest Premier: Devine

Saskatchewan's Greatest Premier Contest is over. With a whopping 10085 votes counted, Grant Devine has emerged as the winner with 59%. Devine will go on to represent Saskatchewan in the national Greatest Premier's contest hosted by Calgarygrit. The Greatest Canadian, Tommy Douglas, made a valiant eleventh-hour surge but in the end he only muster 39%. 39% of the vote is good enough to win an election and form government, but it is not good enough in this contest. Although, Walter Scott, Roy Romanow, Ross Thatcher and Allan Blakeney made some impact early on, they were not a factor in the closing two days of voting.

Thank you to everyone who voted and commented on Saskatchewan's Greatest Premier contest. The passion demonstrated by the votes cast and the comments posted indicates that Saskatchewan can look forward to a spirited election this fall (yes, my money is on this fall despite, what I can only guess would be, Pat Atkinson's desire to bring in her first budget as Finance Minister next spring). Comeback and visit, but for now, go to Calgarygrits's blog for the national contest.
