Critiquing Dion's Critics

Having ridiculed the unelected Bob Rae as Dion's choice for foreign affairs critic, I took a close look at the Liberal critic portfolios this morning. The Liberals have 54 critic positions! 54 out of a caucus of 96. Rather, 53 out of a caucus of 96 because Bob Rae has yet to be elected. The Conservatives only have 44 ministries, including the secretary of state positions, for which there are only 32 ministers and secretary of states. What does that say about Liberal MPs like Ken Dryden, John Godfrey or Tina Keeper? That their skills do not qualify them to be a critic so Dion has to go to the outside and get an unelected person? Raising the profile of someone like Tina Keeper would be beneficial as she won her seat by a small percentage over the NDP in a riding where the former NDP incumbent ran as an independent.
Also, do the Liberals need a critic of water? Definitely water is one of many important topics. However, they might have wanted a critic to focus on Quebec or Montreal. You know, maybe show Quebecers that the Liberals care. Just a suggestion.
