Hey look, the Globe is boosting the Greens...again

New story, same as the old story. New record, same as the old record.

The Globe and Mail is again boosting the miracle of Green votes. Of course this is just a survey, and not actual votes. As the article infers, this is just a protest vote and a safe place to park your vote until an actual election. And, of course, this is just a survey by the Strategic Counsel which polled the Greens at 13% on November 11th and then at 8% three days later on November14.

So what then can we take from this survey:
- it is a survey, period.
- the Globe headline writers do not read past Globe commissioned polls - how else does one explain a new record that was also recorded a month ago?
- the Globe writers do not read past Globe commissioned polls - how else does one explain the comment, "And rather than a one-time blip, the party has for several months regularly scored at or near that mark"? The party was at 8% four weeks ago.
- the environment is still a concern to Canadians
- it is the Christmas season! Canadians are not going to the polls are more engaged with family matters than politics.

The poll results were as follows (+/- from SC Nov. 14th poll):
Conservative 32% [-2]
Liberal 29% [-2]
NDP 16% [0]
Green 13% [+5]
Separatists 10% [-1]
